【South Korea 】K-Beauty ODM Leader Cosmax Posts Record Q1 Sales, Expands Global Production Network

Buyer note

LASHNEWS tracks the supply-chain signal behind "K-Beauty ODM Leader Cosmax Posts Record Q1 Sales, Expands Global Produ", with attention to buyer risk, sourcing context, and regulatory questions.

South Korean ODM giant Cosmax reported its highest-ever quarterly revenue in Q1 2026, driven by strong K-skincare demand in North America and Europe. With a growing roster of 5,000 brand clients and new production bases in China, the US, and Southeast Asia, Cosmax is positioning itself as a key supply-chain partner for overseas beauty brands seeking agile, R&D-driven manufacturing.

## Record Q1 results on Korean and US growth

Cosmax posted consolidated Q1 2026 revenue of KRW 682 billion (USD ~510 million), up 15.9% year-on-year. Operating profit rose 3.3% to KRW 53 billion, while net profit surged 312.1% to KRW 43.8 billion. The Korean entity led growth with KRW 423.2 billion in sales (+17% YoY), fueled by exports of sun care, gel masks, and mists. Direct exports to overseas clients increased over 30%.

## China and US subsidiaries hit milestones

Cosmax China achieved a quarterly record of KRW 194.7 billion in sales (+20% YoY), driven by new local brands launching products. The Guangzhou facility diversified from online to offline and export channels. In the US, revenue jumped 46% to KRW 42 billion, as indie brand clients increased new orders and reorders across lip, blush, and body categories. Operating loss narrowed from -KRW 11.7 billion to -KRW 7.8 billion.

## Global production capacity expansion

Cosmax is expanding its manufacturing footprint: a new Shanghai headquarters will boost China's annual capacity to 1.6 billion units by late 2026. In the US, its West Coast subsidiary offers "Made in USA" services. In Southeast Asia, new factories in Thailand (late 2026) and Indonesia (2027) will raise global capacity from 3.5 billion to 4 billion units. The company also acquired a plant in Italy, completing an Asia-North America-Europe triangle supply chain.

## ODM model and R&D investment as competitive edge

Unlike OEM, Cosmax's ODM model covers product planning, R&D, and production. It invests over 5% of revenue in R&D annually—KRW 136.7 billion in 2025 (+31.3% YoY)—and holds 800 registered patents, the most among Korean cosmetic ODM firms. Its ability to start with small batches and scale up based on demand reduces inventory risk for clients.

## What buyers should watch

Cosmax now serves 5,000 clients, including L'Oréal, Estée Lauder, and Johnson & Johnson, and exports directly to 34 countries. Its halal-certified facilities in Thailand and Indonesia open doors for Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern markets. For importers and distributors seeking a one-stop ODM partner with fast turnaround and trend data, Cosmax's expanding global network and color cosmetics expertise offer a reliable sourcing option.
