In Cameroon, the influencer known by the pseudonym “Croqueuse de diamant” finds herself in legal turmoil. According to Brut Afrique, the National Order of Physicians of Cameroon has taken legal action following multiple reports of practices presented as cosmetic surgery but performed without medical authorization. This case is shaking up social media and raising questions about the influence of content creators on their followers’ lives.
Her real name is Manuela Nimpa, and the content creator posts videos on social media of body filler injections—procedures intended to increase the volume of certain body areas. Followed by over 3.2 million people on TikTok, she showcases these services prominently on the platform, where her posts regularly attract thousands of views. In response to the alert, the Cameroon Medical Board broke its silence.
The Ministry of Public Health also reacted on the same day. In its statement, it noted the proliferation on social media and in certain private locations of advertisements and practices related to these injections. Health authorities insist on one point: body filler injections constitute full-fledged medical acts. They must therefore be performed only by qualified professionals, in authorized healthcare facilities. The Ministry also calls on the public to be vigilant against these offers disseminated online, while controls are reportedly already underway.
