【Seoul, South】Dongkook Pharmaceutical Accelerates Development of ‘Madeca Labs’ with Dermatologist Collaboration

Editor’s Note

**Editor’s Note:** Dongkook Pharmaceutical has established a dermatologist advisory board to advance its dermacosmeceutical brand, Madeca Labs, with a target launch in the first half of 2027.

Dermatologist-Advisory Board Established

Dongkook Pharmaceutical announced on the 24th that it has formed an advisory board to accelerate the development of ‘Madeca Labs’, a medical science-based dermacosmeceutical brand. The target launch date is the first half of 2027.

A representative from Dongkook Pharmaceutical’s Dermacosmeceutical Team stated:

“Madeca Labs is a high-performance skincare brand developed in collaboration with dermatologists based on medical scientific evidence. Leveraging Dongkook Pharmaceutical’s accumulated Madeca heritage and dermatological research capabilities, combined with the expertise of dermatologists, we aim to introduce trustworthy skincare solutions through specialized hospital and clinic channels.”

Previously, Dongkook Pharmaceutical launched the dermacosmetic brand ‘Centellian24’ in 2015 and has been expanding its ‘Madeca MD’ lineup exclusively for hospitals and clinics. With the launch of Madeca Labs next year, the company plans to gradually expand its dermacosmeceutical business, focusing on hospitals and clinics.

Advisory Board Composition and R&D Direction

In this regard, Dongkook Pharmaceutical (086450) established an advisory board last month consisting of five dermatologists, including Dr. Choon-Sik Yoon, Director of Yemiwon Dermatology Clinic. The advisory board discussed skin action mechanisms and formulation development directions based on research into ‘Centella Asiatica Quantitative Extract’ (TECA), a key ingredient derived from centella asiatica. They will actively participate in the development process through regular meetings, covering core ingredients, full ingredient composition, and sensory experience.

Dongkook Pharmaceutical plans to introduce a high-performance skincare brand based on hospitals and clinics, leveraging the company’s pharmaceutical R&D capabilities and dermatologist advisory input. Madeca Labs is designed to address various skin concerns including skin barrier function, sensitive skin, post-procedure home care, and skin condition management.

Dermacosmeceutical Market Strategy

The company aims to gradually expand its dermacosmeceutical business, with hospitals and clinics as the primary channel, following the launch of Madeca Labs next year.
