[Seoul Times News = Reporter Seo Yeon-ok] Yonwoo announced on the 22nd that it held the ‘Yonwoo Packaging Summit: Packaging Megatrends and Global Quality Strategy Seminar’ on the 21st at the Kolmar Korea R&D Center auditorium. This is the first large-scale professional event in the industry focused on cosmetic packaging. The event brought together approximately 200 people from 100 companies, including domestic and international cosmetic brands, ODM/OEM companies, beauty B2B platforms, and packaging and raw material suppliers, to discuss the changing global market environment and response strategies.
This event was organized to proactively respond to the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which takes effect in all 27 EU member states starting August 12. The PPWR mandates recyclable packaging design and increased use of recycled materials, and from 2030, only packaging with a certain level of recyclability will be allowed on the market. Consequently, K-beauty companies with high export volumes to Europe are making eco-friendly packaging design and quality management capabilities a new competitive priority.
The event began with a welcome speech by Yonwoo CEO Park Sang-yong, followed by congratulatory remarks from Kolmar Korea CEO Choi Hyun-kyu and Craver CEO Jeon Hang-il. The presentation sessions introduced 2026 beauty packaging trends, corporate response strategies to PPWR implementation, global quality management systems, and directions for eco-friendly packaging design. Practical case studies on container design to enhance recyclability, use of sustainable materials, and quality requirements in overseas markets drew significant interest from attending companies.
Since opening its showroom ‘Yonwoo Seongsu’ in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong last year, Yonwoo has been operating a monthly ‘PTR (Packaging Trend Report) Briefing Day’ to share market changes and new product information with clients. Following the presentation of next-generation packaging trends at a briefing late last year, the company has now expanded the scale to a professional seminar involving the entire industry, strengthening its information exchange function.
The company plans to regularize trend seminars and quality guide programs and expand technical cooperation with clients. Based on collaboration with Kolmar Korea, it aims to advance integrated solutions linking design, formulation, and package development to respond to the rapidly changing global market.
Founded in 1983, Yonwoo developed Korea’s first cosmetic dispenser pump and commercialized the world’s first airless pump. Leveraging its proprietary packaging technology, the company continues to expand collaboration with global cosmetic brands.
