【Seoul, South】Beyond K-Beauty: How CureNology is Expanding Regenerative Science into Global Skincare

Editor’s Note

**Editor’s Note:** This piece explores a Seoul-based biotech firm merging stem cell secretome science, traditional Korean medicine, and regenerative biotechnology to develop premium cosmeceuticals, signaling a shift from conventional K-Beauty to advanced regenerative beauty.

A Seoul-based biotech company combining stem cell secretome science, traditional Korean medicine, and regenerative biotechnology is pioneering the next generation of premium cosmeceuticals.

From Regenerative Medicine to Regenerative Beauty

For over two decades, K-Beauty has captivated global consumers with innovative formulations, sophisticated skincare routines, and trend-setting ingredients. But today, a new chapter is unfolding—one that moves beyond traditional cosmetics into the world of regenerative biotechnology.
At the forefront of this evolution is CureNology Co., Ltd., a Seoul-based biomedical research company founded in 2024. The company launched with a vision to apply decades of accumulated regenerative medicine research to everyday skincare. Rather than merely masking visible signs of aging, it aims to help restore the skin’s inherent regenerative capacity through advanced stem cell science and proprietary transdermal delivery technology.

“Our goal is not to create another premium cosmetic product,” says Dr. Joshua Jaeyun Kim, CEO of CureNology, a biomedical engineer who has researched tissue regeneration and stem cell technology. “We want to bring the science of regenerative medicine into everyday skincare, helping people maintain healthier, more resilient, and younger-looking skin.”

Long before founding CureNology, Dr. Kim had researched regenerative medicine for over 25 years, including diabetic wound healing and cartilage regeneration technologies. Through years of intensive research, product development, and IPO preparation, he personally experienced rapid skin aging, which became the catalyst for a new direction.
The company’s philosophy also reflects a larger shift in the global beauty industry: consumers increasingly prefer biotech-based, scientifically validated products over simple cosmetic ingredients.

Three Core Technologies Driving the Platform

Unlike traditional skincare brands, CureNology positions itself as a biotech company developing cosmetics based on regenerative science. Its innovation platform combines three proprietary technologies:
**Adaptive Stem Cell Secretome Technology**

The company’s core technology involves culturing adult stem cells in a proprietary 3D culture environment. This environment can be precisely adjusted according to stem cell type, producing secretomes optimized for each application. The secretome is rich in growth factors, signaling molecules, and regenerative proteins, designed to boost skin vitality and promote the production of structural proteins associated with youthful skin.
**Extracellular Matrix (ECM) Technology**
CureNology is also developing tissue-specific extracellular matrix (ECM) technology. By recreating the structural environment of healthy tissue, it aims to create a biological environment conducive to skin regeneration.
**Phyto-Transdermal Delivery System (Phyto-TDS)**
Inspired by over 1,000 years of traditional Korean medicine, this platform utilizes eight carefully selected botanical ingredients to temporarily deliver active ingredients into deeper skin layers without permanently damaging the skin barrier. This is combined with the company’s soluble micro-spear pretreatment technology, designed to enhance the delivery efficiency of stem cell-derived bioactive substances.

Le Laffé: Where Science Meets Luxury Skincare

These technologies are unified under CureNology’s premium regenerative skincare brand, Le Laffé. The product line is designed not as individual cosmetics but as a complete reverse-aging routine.
The flagship product, 500,000 Stem Media Skin Booster, contains 500,000 ppm of stem cell secretome. After applying SMTRs-100 De Secret, which uses soluble micro-spears to create temporary micro-channels in the skin, the regenerative bioactive substances are delivered deep into the skin via the Phyto-TDS platform.
The Le Laffé system is designed not merely to improve wrinkles but to improve the biological environment of aging skin itself. The routine is complemented by Aleph Mito-vive First Treatment Essence, designed to support mitochondrial function in skin cells exposed to UV and environmental stress. Zayin Rare Elements Vital Facial Essence, containing botanical ingredients inspired by traditional Korean medicine, helps soothe the skin and maintain skin barrier balance, while Chet Energy Restoration Essence is designed to supply vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to boost skin vitality.

Clinical Validation Through Biomedical Research

Scientific validation is central to CureNology’s strategy. Rather than relying solely on laboratory evaluations common in the cosmetics industry, the company conducted an 8-week clinical trial in collaboration with the Department of Dermatology at Kyung Hee University Hospital.
According to the clinical trial report from Kyung Hee University Hospital, participants using the Le Laffé skincare program showed significant improvements in wrinkles, pigmentation, pore condition, and overall skin texture. Dr. Kim says this demonstrates CureNology’s identity as a biomedical technology company before being a cosmetics company.

Next Step: StemRepair and Cellular Energy

CureNology’s latest technology showcases the company’s vision for the future of regenerative skincare. The newly launched Le Laffé 1,000,000 StemRepair Ampule combines ultra-high concentration Wharton’s Jelly (WJ)-derived stem cell secretome with NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide), which the company describes as a 4th-generation dual-action skin booster.
The stem cell secretome supports the synthesis of structural proteins such as Collagen III, Collagen VI, Elastin, and Fibronectin, while NMN replenishes cellular NAD+ to boost mitochondrial energy production, designed to support skin regeneration and recovery from environmental stress. This technology aims not just to improve the skin surface but to support skin function at the cellular level by combining regenerative signaling with cellular energy metabolism.

Beyond Sun Protection: Daily Care with Regeneration

The recently launched UV Re:Pair Cream also embodies CureNology’s philosophy. The product reflects the belief that skincare should not only prevent damage but also help the skin recover from it. With SPF 50+/PA++++ UV protection, it contains ingredients that support mitochondrial recovery, antioxidant defense, skin regeneration, and collagen preservation. This demonstrates the premium skincare market’s evolution toward multifunctional products combining cosmetic benefits with biotech-based skin care.

Globalizing Korean Biotechnology

Though recently established, CureNology is pursuing an aggressive global strategy. The company has established a 100% subsidiary in Japan and completed product registration in approximately 40 countries. It is expanding online sales in the US, Europe, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand, while building distribution partnerships across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe, preparing for further market expansion.
Based on international patents, trademarks, and technology platforms, CureNology is positioning itself as a new generation of Korean biotech companies redefining K-Beauty in the global market—not merely as innovative cosmetics but as a leading field of regenerative skincare science.

As global consumers increasingly prioritize healthy aging and longevity, CureNology believes that helping the skin restore its own regenerative capacity is the future of beauty. While early K-Beauty grew through innovative formulations and lifestyle trends, CureNology sees the next era being driven by regenerative medicine, biomedical engineering, and clinically-based biotechnology. In that sense, CureNology is not simply exporting skincare products but presenting a new vision of what K-Beauty can evolve into.
