【Taipei, Taiw】Can You Create a Custom Microneedle Patch in 30 Minutes? WCC Biomedical’s WINMAP™ Platform Debuts at BIO Asia–Taiwan 2026

Editor’s Note

**Editor’s Note:** WCC BIOMEDICAL unveils its WINMAP™ platform at BIO Asia–Taiwan 2026, promising to tackle the costly “domino effect” in microneedle development by enabling faster compound switching.

TAIPEI, July 16, 2026

In the biomedical field, traditional microneedle formulation development often faces a “domino effect” challenge—switching a compound can require months of redevelopment, a major pain point for the industry. To address this long-standing issue, WCC BIOMEDICAL, a company dedicated to microneedle transdermal delivery technology, today announced that its core technology, the WINMAP™ Microneedle Array Patch (MAP) platform, will officially debut at “BIO Asia–Taiwan 2026.” The platform is built on the core concept of “Balance and Extension,” balancing precision delivery with efficient R&D, and simultaneously advancing three major areas: new drug development, R&D tools, and consumer applications, providing an authoritative solution for the biomedical industry.

Dr. Liu Da-Jiao, Chairman of WCC Biomedical, presenting WINMAP™ platform technology achievements at BIO Asia–Taiwan 2026

We sincerely invite industry professionals, media friends, and potential partners to visit booth L332 on the 4th floor of Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 from July 16 to 19, 2026, to witness a live demonstration of the WINMAP™ mini and explore collaboration opportunities in microneedle technology.

WCC Biomedical is the first company in Taiwan to receive the “Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Company” designation from the Ministry of Economic Affairs for its innovative technology platform. The unique advantage of the WINMAP™ platform lies in its clear commercial timeline and balanced short- and long-term operational structure: in the short term, consumer skincare applications target the end market; in the medium term, R&D tools expand into academic and industry customer bases; and in the long term, the focus is on high-value new drug development.

“The true value of the WINMAP™ platform is that the same microneedle technology can span different application areas and cover different stages from early R&D to end products—from innovative drugs to daily skincare, each with its own development standards,” said Dr. Liu Da-Jiao, Chairman of WCC Biomedical. “At this BIO Asia exhibition, we are concretely demonstrating the platform’s benefits with three parallel product lines: the clinical-stage investigational new drug WCC301, the R&D-stage rapid sample preparation system WINMAP™ mini, and daily skincare applications.”
R&D Tool WINMAP™ mini: Complete Samples in 30 Minutes, Revolutionizing Traditional Formulation Development

Traditional dissolving microneedles encapsulate the drug within the needle body. Whenever a compound is changed or the drug loading is adjusted, formulation development must start anew, often taking months from development to obtaining testable samples. To overcome this R&D bottleneck, WCC Biomedical independently developed the WINMAP™ mini microneedle sample rapid preparation system, combining hydrogel microneedles with polymer processing technology.

This system offers the unique advantage of decoupling “needle body formation” from “drug loading.” With the needle body unchanged, only the coating solution needs to be replaced to change the drug. The simplest coating process can complete a microneedle sample in 30 minutes. This breakthrough significantly shortens the iteration cycle for formulation screening and early evaluation. The WINMAP™ mini targets academic and research institutions, formulation development teams at pharmaceutical companies, and early evaluation work at contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs). Related patents were filed in major markets by the end of 2025, and the system will be demonstrated live for the first time at this exhibition, with priority access for evaluation by academic and research institutions.

New Drug Development WCC301: GLP Toxicology Studies Completed, Global Market Expansion Underway

In the field of new drug development, WCC Biomedical has successfully developed the investigational new drug WCC301 for local pain caused by acute sprains. Its design uses a microneedle array to precisely penetrate the stratum corneum of the skin, enabling local transdermal drug delivery.

WCC301 has reached a significant milestone, successfully completing GLP toxicology studies and the production of clinical trial samples. The company plans to submit an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) this year, followed by a submission to Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA). To shorten the early clinical timeline, WCC301 is planned with a combined Phase I/IIa trial design, rigorously evaluating safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy within the same trial. The WINMAP™ platform will also be gradually extended to other local pain indications in the future.

Consumer Applications: WINMAP™ Platform Enters Daily Skincare

Beyond medical and R&D fields, WCC Biomedical has also extended the WINMAP™ platform technology to daily skincare applications for consumers. During the exhibition, the company will showcase the recently launched Power Patch and V Patch product series, designed to boost skin vitality and firm the skin, respectively, bringing the precision advantages of microneedle technology to the broader consumer market.
