Clinical trial data showed Boey may begin working as quickly as eight hours after treatment, with effects typically lasting approximately two to three weeks. The treatment is designed as an option for people interested in facial injectables who want a shorter-duration experience before considering longer-lasting aesthetic treatments.
Following completion of the centralized approval process, the European Commission authorization applies across all 30 European Economic Area countries. Boey was also approved in Canada in June 2026.
Allergan Aesthetics said growing numbers of consumers are exploring aesthetic treatments while seeking options that better match their personal preferences and expectations.
A company survey found that 80% of respondents were interested in learning about new treatments to achieve their desired results, while 79% said they wished they could temporarily preview the outcome of an aesthetic procedure.
The product was developed by the makers of BOTOX Cosmetic, known as VISTABEL or Vistabex in the European Union. Allergan Aesthetics said BOTOX Cosmetic is the only neurotoxin clinically tested for safety following treatment with Boey.
The European approval is supported by two Phase 3 randomized, multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials involving 725 adults with moderate to severe glabellar lines associated with corrugator and/or procerus muscle activity.

Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, has secured European Commission approval for Boey (trenibotulinumtoxinE), a new facial injectable designed to temporarily improve moderate to severe frown lines in adults.
The approval makes Boey the first and only rapid-onset, short-duration botulinum neurotoxin serotype E approved in Europe for the temporary improvement of glabellar lines — the vertical lines between the eyebrows that appear during frowning.
Boey was developed to address that demand by offering a shorter-duration treatment option for suitable patients considering facial injectables.
In both pivotal studies, onset of effect was observed as early as eight hours after injection, with peak effects seen at Day 7. Glabellar lines returned to baseline severity approximately two to three weeks after administration.
