[The Bio, Reporter Jin Yoo-jung] Hugel announced on the 20th that it has launched ‘TheCharm Signature’, a new hyaluronic acid (HA) filler product with enhanced safety by minimizing the use of crosslinkers.

TheCharm Signature is a product line that integrates Hugel’s R&D achievements to advance the competitiveness of its HA filler lineup. According to the company, it consists of four products with a broad ‘physical property spectrum’ to allow medical professionals to choose based on treatment area and purpose.

Typically, HA fillers undergo a ‘crosslinking process’ to maintain hyaluronic acid, which is easily degraded in the body, in a stable gel form. Hugel emphasized that by applying the proprietary ‘MPC (Multi Purified Crosslinking) method’ from its affiliate Across, it has reduced crosslinker usage by over 50% compared to conventional manufacturing processes and maximized crosslinking efficiency through a special process using high-concentration HA raw materials.

The company explained that through a multi-purification process lasting about two weeks—longer than standard manufacturing—it has lowered residual crosslinker (BDDE) as well as micro hydrolysis byproducts (BDPE) that can arise during the crosslinking stage, thereby enhancing safety and quality. Hugel stressed that despite minimizing crosslinker usage, the product maintains the firm ‘physical properties’ and ‘durability’ that were advantages of the existing TheCharm Premium line.

“Based on extensive R&D and accumulated technical expertise, our company, which has built a solid position in the HA filler field, has introduced a differentiated new product applying our proprietary MPC method,” said Jang Doo-hyun, CEO of Hugel. “We will continue to strengthen product competitiveness and safety, and further build trust with both medical professionals and consumers.”
