【Eumseong/Che】Cosmecca Korea Develops Next-Generation Anti-Aging Cosmetic Ingredients

Cosmecca Korea, a global cosmetics OGM (Original Global Manufacturing) specialist with its headquarters and main production facilities in Eumseong and Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Professor Hwang Jae-sung’s research team at Kyung Hee University and Labio, a cosmetic ingredient development company, for joint research on ‘next-generation anti-aging cosmetic ingredients based on circadian rhythms.’

According to Cosmecca Korea on the 22nd, through this agreement, Cosmecca Korea, Professor Hwang Jae-sung’s research team (an expert in anti-aging research), and Labio will form a consortium to jointly carry out the entire cycle from efficacy research to material development and product commercialization.

This joint research is the second collaborative project following the development of senolytic-based anti-aging materials last year. The core of the research is to develop neurocosmetics ingredients that go beyond simple wrinkle improvement to correct circadian rhythms disrupted by sleep deprivation and chronic stress, and restore the skin’s natural energy.

Neurocosmetics is a next-generation beauty technology that manages the impact of external environments and psychological stress on the skin. The research particularly focuses on how modern irregular lifestyles and chronic stress disrupt skin circadian rhythm genes.

The research team plans to focus on discovering ingredients that help normalize the expression of circadian rhythm genes, activate reduced mitochondrial function, and strengthen the compromised skin barrier, thereby contributing to overall cell function recovery and maintaining skin homeostasis. Afterward, promising candidate substances will be selected, undergo safety evaluation and formulation research, and be pursued for cosmetic commercialization.

Key research objectives include: Discovery of materials for circadian rhythm regulation and skin function recovery, Development of formulation technologies to improve skin delivery, Filing of core technology patents and publication of papers, and Development of high-functional prototypes tailored for the global market.

“As sleep deprivation and stress become routine, neurocosmetics that help restore circadian rhythms are gaining attention as a new growth area in the global beauty market,” said a Cosmecca Korea official. “Through this joint research, we expect to secure differentiated, high-functional domestic raw materials and provide innovative skincare solutions to global clients.”

Meanwhile, Cosmecca Korea is continuously expanding its R&D in anti-aging and longevity fields, integrating advanced biotechnology and dermatology, including neurocosmetics.
