Wahiba Chiboub reported numerous complaints filed with the judiciary and the union following medical complications that, according to her statements, are linked to procedures performed by individuals she describes as “intruders” in the aesthetic medicine sector. She also emphasized that some of these individuals use unauthorized products not subject to health control.
She confirmed that several cases of complications and health problems have been recorded. However, she noted that some of these cases remain in the category of “swept under the rug” files, due to victims’ fear of reactions from their entourage, especially when individuals undergo aesthetic procedures without informing their spouse or family.
The vice-president of the Union of Aesthetic Physicians called for accelerating the publication of the specifications governing the aesthetic medicine sector, stating that regulating this activity has become essential to combat abuses and protect citizens’ health.
She also insisted on the importance of accompanying these specifications with a law providing for the creation of a National Digital Monitoring and Health Safety Authority, as well as the establishment of a National Health Deterrence Fund and the strengthening of the healthcare system.
