**Editor’s Note:** Dongkook Pharmaceutical is advancing its dermacosmetic portfolio with the launch of ‘Madecassol Labs’, a medical-grade brand developed in collaboration with a dermatologist advisory board. This strategic move aims to extend the company’s presence in high-performance skincare through hospital and clinic channels, building on the success of its ‘Centellian24’ brand.
Dongkook Pharmaceutical is collaborating with a dermatologist advisory board to accelerate the development of its science-based dermacosmetic brand ‘Madecassol Labs’. The strategy is to expand its existing dermacosmetic business, built on the ‘Centellian24’ brand, into high-performance skincare centered on hospital and clinic channels.
According to Dongkook Pharmaceutical on the 24th, the company is developing ‘Madecassol Labs’, a high-performance skincare brand for hospitals and clinics, in partnership with a dermatologist advisory board, with a target launch in the first half of next year.
‘Madecassol Labs’ will feature a range of high-performance products addressing various skin concerns, including strengthening the skin barrier, sensitive skin care, post-procedure home care, and skin condition management. The brand is characterized by combining the company’s accumulated R&D capabilities as a pharmaceutical company with clinical expertise to strengthen medical and scientific evidence.
To this end, Dongkook Pharmaceutical launched a dermacosmetic advisory board on June 13, consisting of five dermatologists. The advisory board includes Dr. Chunsik Yoon (Yemiwon Dermatology Clinic), Dr. Jiho Park (Oaro Dermatology Clinic), Dr. Youngwoon Park (Villad Skin Dermatology Clinic), Dr. Mihye Lee (Riwon Dermatology Clinic), and Dr. Sangyeop Kim (JFCell Dermatology Clinic).
At the inaugural meeting, Dongkook Pharmaceutical shared its over 50 years of accumulated botanical raw material R&D capabilities and dermacosmetic business strategy, and discussed high-performance skincare solutions suitable for hospital and clinic channels with the advisory board. In particular, discussions focused on the mechanism of action on the skin and formulation development direction centered on ‘TECA’ (Centella Asiatica quantified extract), a key ingredient derived from Centella asiatica.
Going forward, the advisory board will participate in the entire product development process through regular meetings, including core ingredient design, full ingredient composition, formulation testing, and sensory evaluation.
Meanwhile, according to the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute, the domestic dermacosmetic market is estimated to be worth approximately 5.5 trillion KRW. While the traditional cosmetics market has stagnated over the past five years, the dermacosmetic market has recorded steep growth of nearly 10 times.
