APR is moving to internalize system semiconductors and core component technologies for beauty devices through a government national project.

APR announced on the 26th that it held a kick-off meeting on the 23rd at Lotte World Tower in Songpa-gu, Seoul, following its selection for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s semiconductor advanced industry technology development project.

The event was attended by Shin Jae-woo, Head of APR’s R&D Center, Park Dong-hee, Head of APR’s Technology Research Lab, as well as officials from participating institutions including domestic university research institutes and government-funded research institutes.

Earlier, APR was selected as the lead institution for the project last month. Accordingly, it will carry out the project for a total of four years until 2029 together with participating institutions. The consortium is expected to receive funding totaling 7.6 billion won.

The goal of this project is to secure in-house core components and system technologies that determine output stability, miniaturization, power efficiency, and safety control of beauty devices. In particular, research will also be conducted on system semiconductors that determine the performance of beauty devices.

In addition, APR plans to expand its productization capabilities accumulated in the beauty device field into semiconductor and original technology areas, and build a K-Beauty Tech platform that combines semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and hardware.

“We will collaborate with domestic research institutions and universities to internalize core K-Beauty Tech technologies and secure differentiated technological competitiveness in the global market,” said an APR official.

Meanwhile, APR plans to launch new aesthetic medical devices in Korea as early as the end of this year, and expand its global business in the mid to long term.
