Aekyung Industrial and Dongseong Pharmaceutical have partnered with Fudan University’s Changjiang Research Institute to jointly develop a skin and scalp data research and AI analysis platform, aiming to advance skin science and expand into the Chinese market.
Aekyung Industrial and Dongseong Pharmaceutical have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Changjiang Research Institute of Fudan University in Shanghai, China, to collaborate on research and development in skin science and beauty, as well as to target the Chinese market. The agreement was announced on the 28th. The Dermatology Department of Huashan Hospital, affiliated with Fudan University, is recognized as a leading authority in dermatology in China, ranking first in national dermatology evaluations annually.
Through this partnership, the three institutions will establish a long-term cooperation framework in the fields of dermatology, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and the beauty industry. They plan to share their respective research capabilities, product development experience, and clinical and research networks to pursue joint research and technology commercialization.
The main areas of collaboration include:
– Joint research on skin, scalp, and hair science
– Research on skin and scalp data by country, region, and ethnicity
– Development of new raw materials, ingredients, formulations, and delivery technologies
– Clinical trials and efficacy/safety evaluations
– Construction of an AI-based skin and scalp database and analysis platform
– Research on hair loss and hair dyeing
Efforts will also be made to publish papers, file patents, transfer technology, and commercialize research outcomes. Additionally, the parties will explore regulatory cooperation for market entry into China and global markets, as well as the possibility of establishing joint R&D facilities, production facilities, joint ventures, and investment projects.
Taekwang Group, which includes Aekyung Industrial and Dongseong Pharmaceutical as affiliates, will support the operation of the cooperation framework by identifying new collaborative projects and reviewing business structures. Kim Sang-joon, CEO of Aekyung Industrial, stated:
