The Kennedy Local Mayor's Office in Bogotá, Colombia, has closed five establishments offering invasive aesthetic procedures following a series of Inspection, Surveillance, and Control (IVC) operations. Authorities inspected a total of 14 locations providing such services in the area. The closures were ordered after verifying that the sealed establishments lacked the documentation required by current regulations and did not meet the necessary conditions to operate. "The operations were carried out with the support of the competent entities and are part of the permanent actions undertaken by the Kennedy Local Mayor's Office to strengthen control over activities that may pose risks to public health and community safety," explained the Bogotá Government Secretariat. Javier Prieto Tristancho, acting local mayor of Kennedy, added that these actions are part of the local administration's ongoing efforts to ensure that establishments offering medical and aesthetic services comply with legal requirements. "From the Kennedy Local Mayor's Office, we continue to carry out operations to guarantee that establishments providing medical and aesthetic services meet all the requirements established by law. Our commitment is to protect the health and safety of citizens," he said.

The administration urged the public to verify the permits and documentation of establishments and professionals before undergoing any procedure. The inspection operation comes in the wake of the death of Yulixa Consuelo Toloza Rivas, a 52-year-old woman who disappeared on May 13 after undergoing laser lipolysis at a clandestine aesthetic center in the Venecia neighborhood of southern Bogotá. Her body was found six days later on a roadside between Apulo and Anapoima in Cundinamarca. The National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences confirmed that the body found in Apulo was that of Yulixa. Bogotá Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán has called for stricter controls on establishments offering aesthetic procedures in the city. "I ask the authorities to redouble efforts to find the murderers of Yulixa. We cannot fail to ensure that these criminals, wherever they are, pay for what they did to her," he said. So far, five people have been arrested in connection with the case, linked to the Beauty Láser center, including the owner and a Venezuelan citizen alleged to have performed the procedure without the required medical credentials. Authorities determined that the establishment was registered as an aesthetic center and hair salon but did not have permits to perform invasive procedures.
