Samyang Biopharm (0120G0) announced on May 6 that it recently held a launch event for its filler product 'Laphullen' in Bangkok, Thailand, accelerating its entry into the local market.
Laphullen is a polymer filler developed in-house by Samyang Biopharm, with the main ingredient being the medical biodegradable polymer 'PCL' (Polycaprolactone). It functions as a volume-enhancing filler and also induces collagen production, classifying it as a 'biostimulator' product.
Samyang Biopharm identified Thailand as a key country in Southeast Asia's medical tourism and aesthetic medical industry, prompting its market entry. As of last year, the Thai aesthetic market was valued at approximately USD 1.4 billion (about KRW 2 trillion), with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12%. The aesthetic industry estimates that Thailand's filler market will grow from approximately USD 92.6 million (KRW 135.9 billion) last year to about USD 240 million (KRW 352.3 billion) by 2033.
A Samyang Biopharm official stated, "This event will accelerate our global expansion. In addition to Thailand, we have received official approvals to enter the markets of Indonesia, Taiwan, and Argentina, and we are also exploring ways to enter China, Brazil, and Europe."
Samyang Biopharm was officially established as an independent entity dedicated to the group's pharmaceutical and bio business in November last year, following a spin-off from Samyang Holdings (000070), the holding company of Samyang Group.
