This investment round, disclosed by Byte Lab on May 19, signals strong buyer relevance for K-beauty and lifestyle brands, as strategic investor CJ Olive Young enters. The regulatory question remains how this first external funding will impact the company's previously independent growth trajectory.

Byte Lab, a brand commerce company, has attracted an investment of over KRW 10 billion (approximately USD 7.5 million). The company announced on May 19 that the investment round included Atinum Investment as a financial investor (FI) and CJ Olive Young as a strategic investor (SI).

Founded in 2020, Byte Lab has grown through its own brand business without external funding. Its annual revenue for 2025, including subsidiaries, was approximately KRW 60 billion. This marks the company's first external fundraising since its establishment.

Byte Lab operates several brands: hair care brand 'Lily Eve', skincare brand 'Saekdong Seoul', and lifestyle brand 'Barner'. Its flagship brand, Lily Eve, is a hair care brand that approaches hair loss care from the perspective of scalp structure and condition. It has grown around the 'Growton' series, which features proprietary ingredients and a dedicated applicator, and has also achieved results in the hair care category on Amazon in the United States.

Barner is an ergonomic-based life care brand that is expanding its device product line. Saekdong Seoul is a K-skincare brand that combines Korean aesthetics with modern dermatology.

Byte Lab plans to use the investment for next-generation strategic product R&D, business infrastructure enhancement, and securing key talent. The company intends to hire over 30 additional domestic and international talents by the second half of this year.

'We have built brand competitiveness and a growth foundation without external investment over the past five years since our establishment, and this investment recognizes that potential,' said Jo Yong-hoon, CEO of Byte Lab. 'We will continue to foster K-consumer goods brands that resonate in the global market and leap forward as a global brand builder.'
