Editor's note

This enforcement action signals tighter regulatory scrutiny in India's medical aesthetics sector, which overseas buyers and distributors should monitor for potential impacts on clinic compliance and sourcing practices. Non-compliance could lead to clinic closures, disrupting supply chains and brand reputation.

A surprise inspection by the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) at V Care Hair and Skin Clinic in Hyderabad has uncovered five non-dermatologists—three dentists and two homoeopaths—allegedly performing skin procedures. This enforcement action signals tighter regulatory scrutiny in India's medical aesthetics sector, which overseas buyers and distributors should monitor for potential impacts on clinic compliance and sourcing practices.

Inspection details

The TGMC conducted the inspection on June 4, 2026, at V Care Hair and Skin Clinic located on Road No. 1, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The team included Dr. Vishnu Kadali (TGMC member), Dr. Kiran Kumar Thotawar (Vice Chairman, TSMC), and Dr. Jalagam Vijay (HRDA member). The council has registered an FIR against the five practitioners under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act for alleged unethical practices.

Regulatory actions

The council stated it will initiate an inquiry against the doctors officially registered with the clinic, who may have allowed or supported unauthorized practice. Depending on findings, disciplinary action under the Medical Ethics Regulations could include suspension of medical licenses. Additionally, TGMC will recommend that the Hyderabad District Collector and the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) seal the clinic and pursue legal action against its management.

Broader crackdown context

This inspection is part of a wider TGMC drive launched on May 30 to inspect dermatology clinics across Hyderabad. Earlier, on April 3, the council inspected 20 skin, hair, and aesthetic clinics in Kukatpally, Miyapur, and Kondapur, finding several operating without qualified dermatologists and with untrained individuals performing medical procedures. The council has previously identified numerous unqualified practitioners running skin and hair clinics in Telangana.

What buyers should watch

For overseas importers and distributors of aesthetic devices, injectables, and consumables, this regulatory tightening in India's Telangana state underscores the importance of verifying that partner clinics employ properly licensed dermatologists or qualified medical professionals. Non-compliance could lead to clinic closures, disrupting supply chains and brand reputation. Buyers should request proof of practitioner credentials and clinic licenses before entering distribution agreements in India.
