Editor's note

This report signals strong buyer relevance for ASEAN distributors sourcing Korean medical aesthetics and devices, with 90% of Vietnam's equipment imported. The sourcing signal is clear: Gyeonggi Province's USD 6.42 million in contracts, including a USD 1 million deal with C&S Medical, highlights supply-chain opportunities. However, regulatory questions remain on import compliance for AI-powered solutions like RP Inc.'s ECG Buddy.

Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, has achieved USD 13.97 million in export outcomes at the '2026 Vietnam K-Med Expo & SAIGON Int'l Meditech Show' in Ho Chi Minh City, signaling strong momentum for Korean medical aesthetics and healthcare devices in the ASEAN market. For overseas buyers and distributors, this underscores growing opportunities to source competitively priced, tech-advanced Korean aesthetic and medical devices, particularly in a market where 90% of medical equipment is imported.

Market signal

From August 4 to 6, Gyeonggi Province operated a group pavilion at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), facilitating 184 export consultations worth USD 7.55 million and pushing forward contracts totaling USD 6.42 million. The event was co-hosted by KINTEX, the Korea Medical Devices Industry Association, and the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service, attracting buyers from Vietnam and across ASEAN. Twenty Gyeonggi-based companies participated, covering infection prevention, diagnostics, surgery, rehabilitation, beauty and healthcare, and health products.

Key company deals

C&S Medical Inc., headquartered in Pocheon, showcased general electrosurgical devices based on minimally invasive surgery technology. After establishing a partnership with a local Vietnamese medical device firm at last year's K-Med Hanoi expo and signing an initial USD 300,000 export contract, the company secured an additional USD 1 million supply agreement at this event. A formal signing ceremony was held on-site with representatives from both companies.

RP Inc., based in Seongnam, presented 'ECG Buddy,' an AI-powered medical solution that analyzes electrocardiogram (ECG) data. Local medical institutions and healthcare companies showed strong interest, leading to discussions on pilot introductions and system integration during the expo. Further negotiations for supply contracts are expected to follow.

Sourcing context

Vietnam's medical device market is growing steadily due to healthcare infrastructure expansion and rising health awareness. With approximately 90% of medical devices imported, the market offers significant opportunities for Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that combine price competitiveness with advanced technology. Gyeonggi Province is positioning K-medical devices as a core export category, supported by projections from the Korea Health Industry Development Institute that Korea's bio-health exports (including medical devices, biopharmaceuticals, and cosmetics) will exceed USD 30 billion for the first time in 2026.

Regulatory and channel signals

Park Kyung-seo, head of Gyeonggi Province's International Trade Division, stated, "Vietnam is a core ASEAN market with high growth potential and marketability. We will strengthen support such as buyer matching and follow-up consulting to ensure that consultation outcomes lead to actual export contracts." The province provided end-to-end support including dedicated interpreters, pre-event marketing training, local market intelligence, and buyer meeting arrangements. Post-event follow-up will continue with promising buyer connections and export consulting to convert consultations into firm orders.
