Kolon Pharma has officially entered the medical aesthetics market by signing a CDMO agreement with CGMedtex for an hECM (extracellular matrix) skin booster based on mADM (acellular dermal matrix). The move signals growing OEM/ODM opportunities in Korea’s advanced biomaterial supply chain, relevant for overseas distributors seeking differentiated injectable products.
Kolon Pharma-CGMedtex CDMO Deal
Kolon Pharma announced on June 16 that it has signed a CDMO contract with CGMedtex for the manufacture and supply of an hECM skin booster. The product leverages CGMedtex’s proprietary micronization technology to preserve bioactivity while enhancing skin penetration and procedure convenience. It is based on ECM biomaterial technology, a rising trend in medical aesthetics. The partnership is part of Kolon Pharma’s strategy to transform into a patient-centered life-care company beyond traditional pharmaceuticals. The appointment of CEO Jeon Seung-ho, who previously led the FDA approval and global expansion of Daewoong’s botulinum toxin Nabota, is expected to accelerate the aesthetic business. Under the deal, CGMedtex will handle development, production, and regulatory approvals, while Kolon Pharma will focus on domestic sales and marketing. The company aims to expand into medical devices, digital healthcare, and regenerative medicine, offering integrated lifecycle solutions. A Kolon Pharma official stated: "This CDMO contract with CGMedtex is an important milestone in our evolution into a comprehensive life-care company. We will secure differentiated competitiveness in the aesthetic market with the excellent mADM-based hECM skin booster and continuously complete our portfolio."
