Editor's note

The workshop's direct business matching between 11 Korean manufacturers and Jilin buyers signals a structured supply-chain channel for aesthetic devices. Importers should note the MoU between Seongnam and Jilin's plastic surgery association, which may ease regulatory pathways for products like Rejuran and Elravie in China.

The Seongnam Regional Korean Medical Device Training Center successfully concluded its third K-beauty Advanced Skill Training (KAT) workshop from June 9 to 11, 2026, inviting 29 medical professionals and government officials from China's Jilin Province. This event strengthens cross-border supply-chain ties by showcasing Korean aesthetic devices and fostering direct business connections between Korean manufacturers and Chinese buyers.

Event overview

The KAT workshop, organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Korea Health Industry Development Institute, and Seongnam City, was co-hosted by multiple institutions including Seongnam Industrial Promotion Agency, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, and Jilin Provincial Commerce Department. This marks the first large-scale Korea-China KAT program, following successful editions in Ho Chi Minh City and Shenyang.

Buyer engagement and business matching

On the first day, a Korea-China Medical Aesthetics Industry Exchange Meeting was held at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital's Healthcare Innovation Park. Eleven Korean medical device companies—including Pharmaresearch, Huons Meditech, Ikleo, Hugel, Amaros, Meta Pharm, IRI, Woori Medical, J&L, Toura, and MediHub—presented their technologies and discussed market entry strategies with the Chinese delegation.

MoU and training highlights

A memorandum of understanding was signed between Seongnam Industrial Promotion Agency and Jilin Provincial Plastic Surgery Association to facilitate future cooperation. The second day featured cadaver training at Catholic University's International Surgical Skills Education Center and patient-based demonstrations at Gangnam Pascal Clinic, covering procedures such as lower blepharoplasty, thread lifting, and auto-injector techniques.

Products demonstrated

Training utilized Pascal Korea's GASI sutures, Humedix's Elravie fillers, and MediHub's I-Ject digital syringes. On the final day, participants visited Huons Group, Pharmaresearch, and Ikleo facilities in Seongnam to explore products like Derma Shine Pro and Rejuran, discussing collaboration for Chinese market expansion.

What buyers should watch

This initiative signals growing institutional support for Korean medical device exports to China, particularly in the aesthetic segment. Importers and distributors should monitor the KAT program's expansion, as it provides direct access to Korean manufacturers and hands-on training with devices approved for clinical use. The involvement of Jilin's medical networks, including Mingri Medical Aesthetics Hospital Group with over 30 hospitals, indicates potential for bulk procurement and long-term partnerships.

Regulatory and channel signals

The program is part of a government-backed effort to enhance Korean medical device recognition overseas. The MoU between Seongnam and Jilin associations may streamline regulatory pathways for device registration in China's northeastern provinces. Buyers should note that the training emphasized real clinical applications, suggesting a focus on devices with proven safety and efficacy profiles suitable for Chinese clinics.
