Editor's note

This report draws on Hugel’s regulatory filing and CEO Jang Doo-hyun’s strategic remarks. For buyers, the ‘Total Aesthetic’ bundling of toxins, fillers, and skin boosters signals a shift toward integrated solutions, but the filler segment’s dip and reliance on new premium launches pose near-term supply-chain risk. Regulatory scrutiny of non-HA injectables in key markets remains a question.

South Korean medical aesthetics leader Hugel is accelerating its top-line growth under CEO Jang Doo-hyun, posting a record Q1 2025 revenue of KRW 116.6 billion (USD 87 million), up 29.9% year-on-year. The company's 'Total Aesthetic' strategy—combining toxins, fillers, and a rapidly expanding skin booster platform—signals a broader product portfolio for overseas buyers seeking integrated aesthetic solutions.

Record Q1 performance driven by toxin sales

Hugel's consolidated Q1 2025 revenue reached KRW 116.6 billion, the highest first-quarter figure in company history, according to a regulatory filing on April 11. Operating profit rose 22.3% to KRW 47.6 billion, maintaining a robust 40.8% margin despite a slight dip from last year's 47.2%. Toxin sales led the growth, surging 60.2% year-on-year to KRW 64.6 billion, up from KRW 23.05 billion in full-year 2024. The momentum has accelerated since CEO Jang joined in September 2024, with a revamped sales and marketing strategy.

Filler revenue fell 6.4% in Q1 to KRW 32.2 billion, after growing from KRW 94.2 billion in 2022 to KRW 130.2 billion in 2024. Hugel plans to strengthen its filler business with a new premium HA filler using an advanced manufacturing process, expected in H2 2025.

Skin booster platform expands with Non-HA ingredients

Hugel is building a comprehensive skin booster portfolio spanning ECM, collagen, PN/PDRN, PLLA, CaHA, and exosomes. The company views fillers and boosters as complementary, not competitive, targeting the growing demand for natural-looking results and skin quality improvement. In April 2025, Hugel in-licensed Hans Biomed's ECM product 'CelleDerm' for South Korea. Last month, it secured exclusive global aesthetic rights to a next-generation human-identical collagen produced in bioreactor cell lines.

Sourcing context: What buyers should watch

Hugel is leveraging its established toxin and filler distribution network to bundle new skin boosters, expanding touchpoints with clinics. The company is also building medical evidence through KOL engagement, symposia, and global congresses. Korea serves as a strategic testbed before scaling to the US, Europe, and Australia. CEO Jang has stated the goal of becoming a 'K-Aesthetic representative company' through a one-stop total solution platform. Overseas distributors should monitor Hugel's pipeline of Non-HA injectables and potential M&A or licensing opportunities.
