Editor's note

This expansion signals a new retail channel for injectable and filler suppliers targeting the UK market, with Superdrug’s focus on affordability and in-store convenience potentially reshaping sourcing strategies for distributors and OEMs.

Superdrug has opened its first aesthetics clinic in Scotland, located at the Glasgow Fort shopping centre, expanding its UK footprint to four locations. The move signals growing demand for affordable, in-store aesthetic treatments and offers overseas suppliers a new retail channel for injectables and fillers in the UK market.

Clinic expansion details

The Glasgow Fort clinic offers anti-wrinkle injections, dermal and lip fillers, skin enhancers, and platysma band treatments (Nefertiti neck lift). It joins existing Superdrug aesthetics clinics in London, Westfield, and Leicester. The retailer plans to open two more clinics in Piccadilly and Leeds later this year, responding to increasing consumer demand for affordable beauty treatments.

Practitioner qualifications

The clinic is staffed by qualified nurses Amanda and Joan. Amanda earned her BSc in nursing in 2016 and completed a Postgraduate Diploma as a Specialist Nurse Practitioner in District Nursing at Master’s level in 2023. She entered the aesthetics field in 2023 and is pursuing a Master’s level qualification in Facial Aesthetics: Advanced Theoretical Perspectives.

Pricing and consultation model

Appointments begin with a free consultation, and services are restricted to individuals aged 18 and over with proof of ID. Prices vary per package, with lip fillers starting from £179 and skin enhancers from £139. A 10 percent discount on anti-wrinkle injections is available until June 16. The clinic also offers travel vaccinations, weight loss injections, blood tests, and wellbeing consultations.

What buyers should watch

Superdrug’s expansion into aesthetics clinics creates a new retail channel for injectable and filler suppliers targeting the UK market. The chain’s focus on affordability and in-store convenience may influence sourcing strategies for distributors and OEMs looking to partner with high-street retailers. The addition of K-beauty skincare products, such as the Collection Glass Skin range priced from £6.99, also signals interest in Asian beauty trends among UK consumers.
